Resolve a data issue (the Cedarline example)

Decide whether two similar records are the same organization.

Who can do this: Data Steward. Pick the person to act as them from Demo controls.

Go to Data issues

  1. Click "Data issues" in the left menu. The queue starts on the tasks that need a person, under "Needs review".
  2. Wake the steward assistant at the top of the page: click "Wake". The button reads "Put to sleep" once the assistant is awake, and the change is recorded with your name. While it sleeps, "Prepare recommendations" is off and the note says "Press Wake to wake it." The Agent Operator can wake it too.
  3. Click "Prepare recommendations". Each task the assistant works on gets a pill with its confidence and a one-line reason under the record: "High" when the assistant is sure of the proposal, "Review" when you should read the evidence first, and "Held" when the facts disagree and only a person may settle it.
  4. Open the task of Cedarline Coffee Works (ERP-BL-00413). The panel "The steward assistant" shows the pill, the reason and the evidence it rests on. Edit the "Reason" if you wish, then click "Accept recommendation". The decision is recorded with your name; you decide every one of them.
  5. Read the sections 1 to 4 in order. Section 3 compares the source record with each master record it might belong to. Section 4 lists what agrees and what conflicts. Under "3. What are we comparing?" choose Cedarline Coffee Works LLC under "Compare with" and press "Show this record".
  6. Look at Cedarline Coffee Roasters LLC, the near-duplicate. Its name, licence number and unit all conflict with the source record. A similar name is not the same organization. Under "5. What will this action do?" read the preview of each action. The action that turns a proposal down names the record it turns down: "Reject match proposed for" Cedarline Coffee Works LLC. Never confirm a link to Cedarline Coffee Roasters LLC.
  7. Click "Reject match", then "Start". Write a "Decision note" that names the conflicts, and submit. Read the message and the section "6. What happened?".
  8. If a candidate agrees on every compared field, as Cedarline Coffee Works LLC does for this record, the case offers "Confirm link to Cedarline Coffee Works LLC". Choose the action that matches the evidence, then click "Start".
  9. To turn a proposal down instead of accepting it, click "Clear recommendation" and decide the task yourself. To read a proposal in plain words, click "Explain with Muse" on the task: it never changes the decision or its certainty.
  10. Back on "Data issues", click "Accept all high-confidence". The button shows how many. The page lists exactly the recommendations the batch would accept; click "Accept these" with the count to confirm the list. An item that changed since the list was made is skipped and named, never accepted silently. To close a data issue that needs no change, click "Start" under "Close with a reason", choose "Close as" and "Reason", write the "Note" and submit.

What you get: A confirmed link ties the source record to the master record, and neither record’s values are overwritten. A rejected match links nothing, and the source record keeps every value. The assistant prepares; you decide.
