Ask the help assistant and ask the City

Get a cited answer about a permit, or send a question to a person at the City.

Who can do this: Applicant. Pick the person to act as them from Demo controls.

Go to Start an application

  1. Open "Start an application", "My permits" or an application form, and click "Ask" at the corner of the page, or "Ask about your permit" in the header. The assistant opens over the page.
  2. Type your question under "Your question", for example "Do I need a permit for a 6 ft fence?"
  3. Click "Ask". You can also click one of the questions the City is often asked.
  4. Read the answer. Its label says where it came from: "Recorded demo answer" for a stored answer and "Muse Spark (live)" for a live one.
  5. Open a citation, such as ACME Code ยง14-306, and click "Show the rule text" to read the rule the answer relies on.
  6. If the assistant did not answer, the panel says so and shows the rule text that matches your words.
  7. To reach a person, open "Contact the City" from the menu of the City website, type under "Your question" and click "Send my question".
  8. Find your request, and the City's answer to it, on the contact page and under "More details" in the panel.

What you get: The assistant explains the published rules and never decides a permit. A person at the City answers the request you send.
