Apply for a fence or deck permit
Fill in the application, fix what the form points out, and send it.
Who can do this: Applicant. Pick the person to act as them from Demo controls.
- Open the City website and click "Apply for a permit", then click "Start an application" on the Permits page. On the application pages, "Start an application" is also in the top menu.
- Click the "Residential deck or fence" card.
- Choose "Fence" or "Deck" and type the property address and the size or height.
- Press "Submit application" even if the form is not complete. It never stays disabled. A summary headed "There is a problem" lists what is missing and a message sits beside each field.
- Fill in the missing items. Fields marked * are required, and optional fields say "(optional)".
- Add the files with "Add file": a site sketch and a material specification.
- Tick "I will not build over the property line" and the certification.
- Press "Check my application". The button carries a Muse badge, and Muse explains the result in plain words when it is live. The findings are grouped under "Must fix", "Should check" and "Looks good". A "Must fix" holds "Submit application" until you press "Submit anyway" and write why you are submitting now.
- Press "Submit application". A receipt headed "Application received" shows your reference number.
What you get: The status is "Awaiting intake agent". Keep the reference number to find the application later.
